Church on Church St.

Church on Church St. July 4, 11:00 am
Each year The Choir performs with special Guest Artists at the annual Toronto Pride festivities, and brings Church service to thousands on Church St. This year the choir flies back from their amazing General Conference trip to Mexico just in time to arrive bright-eyed and ready for their performance on Church St.

Both special guests, Julie and Stephanie are bringing their amazing talents to this year’s Pride celebration, direct from their flight back from Mexico, as they both accompanied The Choir to General Conference!

Special Guest Artists

Julie Michels

Julie has sung on numerous occasions with The Choir, to her delight, ours and the audience’s – she never fails to impress with her jazzy vocal, vibrant persona and infectious enthusiasm.

Julie is also a featured artists on the Choir’s 2 cds, House of Love and Connected and has sung at Sunday services at the MCC Toronto many times, lending her voice and heart and spirit to each performance. The Choir is always thrilled to have Julie to sing with, as her energy is high and her vocal stylings lift up The Choir’s contemporary sound, particularly on Pride weekend.

Stephanie Martin

With her critically acclaimed stage presence and her own unique brand of ‘jazzy, junk-drawer pop’ Stephanie Martin has established herself as a respected artist in Canada and abroad. Writer/director Ted Dykstra calls her a “towering talent”. Elaine Overholt, vocal coach to the stars, says Martin “is a true musician with a most beautiful voice and a tremendous songwriting ability”.

Choir Kudos

It was fantastic to see everyone in the hall and those out on the lawn clapping and singing along with Julie and the choir. They performed “Get Together/We are connected” like no one else could. The best I’ve heard. With cameras panning to Steven Lewis and Ed Broadbent during the song it was evident that they were deeply moved. — Kathleen Hogan
