Euchre FAQ

Back by POPULAR DEMAND!

The response to the first year of Euchre Tournament Friday Nights has been overwhelming, so we (Romelda & Heather) have agreed to continue coordinating “Euchre Tournament Friday Nights” at MCC Toronto, along with a great Euchre Committee.

$25.00 Registration fee, includes a meal! We have a Cash Bar, Door Prizes and Player Prizes for Top three scores in both the Leisure Pool and the Main Pool of players. We even have a “most honest player” prize for the player who scores the lowest.

What is the “Leisure Pool”?

No, it’s not like the kiddie pool where you wade in the water. It is a set aside area of tables for players who may be new to the game of Euchre or who just want to play more for fun than for serious points. We leave the serious Euchre playing to the Main Pool (they play in the “deep end” so to speak!) Previously, the Leisure Pool was a mini tournament of players, but due to the lack of consistently having a minimum of 16 players, we have decided that we will have a Leisure pool, there will be a most honest prize, but no top score prizes and NO Grand Champion for Leisure Pool.

The Leisure Pool will have players in it who know the game well, and can teach new players. So, if you want to learn or get better at Euchre, the Leisure Pool is the area for you. Relaxed, fun, leisurely play. We’ve had people who had never heard of Euchre come and join in the leisure pool and the other players helped teach them the game, and they love it now! All Leisure Pool players will be eligible for door prizes and the Most Honest Player prize only. It is really about providing a place so folks can have fun and learn the game.

What’s in the Meal?

We serve up munchies throughout the night, and a meal around 8:45pm. We always have hotdogs and chips, with salads and veggies and dip, and desserts like brownies or squares. A simple, but yummy spread.

Player Prizes & Door Prizes

We have prizes in each of the Pools for the Top three Scoring players, and for the most honest score (the lowest score).

We also have several door prizes each night that anyone is eligible to win!

Top Player Prize Donations

We always need prize donations, so if you’d like to donate something for a Top Player prize we use the following chart as a guide for the appropriate value of the prizes:

  • First Place Player prize value: $100-$150
  • Second Place Player Prize value: $75-$100
  • Third Place Player Prize Value: $50-$75

Door Prize Donations

Door prizes are extremely popular because you don’t have to be a great Euchre player to win, as everyone is eligible. If you would like to donate door prizes we recommend prizes ranging between $20-$50. Some door prize examples include: dinners for two, gift cards, car washes, kitchen gadgets, beverage accessories.

To DONATE a prize email us and let us know, or talk to us at church on Sundays.
