It was fantastic to see everyone in the hall and those out on the lawn clapping and singing along with Julie and the choir. They performed “Get Together/We are connected” like no one else could. Absolutely soulful and splendid was the music at Jack Layton’s ‘Celebration of Life’. ‘Kyrie’ was wonderful. ‘Get Together’ with Julie Michels and the choir gave me goosebumps. I cannot get your rendition of this 60′s anthem out of my head. I fall asleep with it and wake up with it. I sing it aloud sometimes. The songs message is the same as it was when I was 14, in ’69, it just evokes different feelings and a better understanding from my 56 year old mind. The total choice of music and its rendering at Jack’s service was soulful, thought provoking, sometimes light hearted and always moving. What a tribute to a great Canadian. — Doreen Mason
