Dear Past, Present or Future Choir Member,
As some of you know, Metropolitan Community Church holds a Christmas Eve service at Roy Thomson Hall every year. We are hoping that you will consider joining or re-joining us this year. In 2010, The Christmas Choir was comprised of 84 singers, including many new singers! We had a fantastic time and would love to see as many, if not more, singers this year.
This is a great opportunity to participate in an event that has become a tradition in Toronto. We are planning some very exciting music this year, including a choral piece accompanied by a bell ensemble. (If you have some experience “ringing”, please sign up to participate in this!).
There will be five (5) three hour rehearsals dedicated to Christmas Eve Music – a total of 15 hours. These rehearsals will take place on:
Saturday Nov. 19th from 9:00 a.m. to noon (Registration)
Saturday Dec. 3rd from 9:00 a.m. to noon
Thursday Dec. 15th from 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Saturday Dec. 17th from 9:00 a.m. to noon
Thursday Dec. 22nd from 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
The service:
Saturday Dec. 24th from approximately 5 p.m. to midnight (Roy Thomson Hall)
All rehearsals are at Metropolitan Community Church, 115 Simpson Ave. (main intersection: Gerrard and Logan).
Registration: Saturday Nov. 19 from 8:30 to 9:00 a.m.
Pre-registration: Sunday Nov. 13th after service in the Social Hall
If you have not sung with the choir before it will be necessary to have a brief vocal assessment after the first rehearsal. You will be provided with a binder and music. Please bring water, a pencil and a handheld recording device (if you have one) to every rehearsal. Singers must attend all rehearsals, exceptions at the discretion of the Music Director or Associate Music Director. Attendance will be taken at each rehearsal.
We hope that you will find time in your busy schedule to indulge yourself in one of the most meaningful parts of Christmas; that of making music and enjoying the fellowship of others.
Please contact Heather Magee at info@mcctorontochoir.com if you have questions or wish to pre-register.
We look forward to seeing you.
Regards,
Diane Leah
Director of Music
Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto
